ASAI BANGKOK CHINATOWN, A LIFESTYLE HOTEL CONNECTING CURIOUS TRAVELLERS THROUGH LOCAL EXPERIENCES.

ASAI Bangkok Chinatown is a lifestyle hotel located right in the heart of one of the best Chinatowns in the world. Just steps from our door, you’ll find markets, world famous street food, hidden bars, art, history and culture. In moments, you’re on Yaowarat Road, the main artery of Bangkok's Chinatown, abuzz with authentic sights, sounds and smells to explore, and within easy reach of the rest of the city.

One of the oldest areas in Bangkok, Chinatown is the result of the resettlement of Chinese families on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River after King Rama I moved the capital of the kingdom from Thonburi to Rattanakosin. Through the neighbourhood’s centre runs Yaowarat, a 1.5 km stretch that starts at the Odeon Circle near Wat Traimit -- the Temple of Golden Buddha, and ends at the Wang Burapha intersection.

Surrounding Yaowarat are Charoenkrung Road, Mangkon Road, Songwat Road, Songsawat Road, Ratchawong Road, Chakkrawat Road and Sampeng Market, each home to its unique treasures. A stroll through the neighbourhood reveals temples, cafes, street stalls and shops selling everything from garments, textiles and souvenirs to computer parts, antiques, imported musical instruments and local delicacies. Yaowarat’s distinct curve was said to resemble a dragon, making it an auspicious location for business. Now it’s home to the densest concentration of gold shops in the world. Whether you call it Yaowarat, Golden Road or Dragon Road, it’s the destination for Bangkok’s yearly Chinese New Year celebrations, an unmissable festival of colour, flavour and culture.

Whatever time of year you visit ASAI Bangkok Chinatown, our neighbourhood comes alive every night, transforming into a foodie paradise, with bustling street stalls serving authentic dishes cooked fresh to order, with local ingredients. Down hidden side street, Soi Nana, some of the city’s best bars serve craft cocktails behind hidden doors or on garlanded rooftops. Nearby on Charoenkrung Road, Bangkok’s dining scene is thriving, with innovative chefs drawing international attention and acclaim.

From ASAI Bangkok Chinatown, it’s easy to explore the rest of the city from MRT Wat Mangkon, just a couple of minutes’ walk away. Nearby, the Chao Phraya River awaits with taxi boats connecting visitors with ICONSIAM -- the largest shopping mall in Asia, as well as the Grand Palace, Temple of Emerald Buddha and Wat Pho.
