ASAI Hotels, Bangkok Soap Opera, and Patom Organic Living teamed up to host a fun session on how to recycle cooking oil from Dusit Thani Bangkok by turning it into jam soap. The Waste to Worth workshop was held on Saturday 18 August 2018 from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm at Patom Organic Living and there were about 25 participants, who clearly shared interests in sustainable living.

Looking at waste management and waste disposal, this workshop proved that through a transformation, modification or development process, waste can be simply recycled into something new and useful. Integrating sustainable development and eco-friendly systems like this into our communities was what inspired this “Waste to Worth” workshop.

Khun Siradej, MD of ASAI Hotels opened the workshop with a few words about the importance of waste management his hopes that the workshop would encourage more people to be aware of the resources they use and the waste they generate. He handed over to Maria, founder of Bangkok Soap Opera to kick off the fun two-hour workshop, rounding things off with a Q&A game while everyone enjoyed a few organic Thai desserts from Patom Organic Living.

Next time, instead of throwing your used cooking oil down the drain or into the canal, save it up and turn it into homemade soap. It’s good for your family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, and most importantly, the environment.
