The Latest Hotspots in Bangkok’s Coolest Neighbourhood

This is a vibrant city, where brand-new restaurants, bars and destinations open every week. It can be hard to keep track, but don’t despair. At ASAI, we pride ourselves on living local, exploring our neighbourhood and having the scoop on all the best places to check out in Sathorn. And we love to share them with you. So, what’s new?

Chong Nonsi Canal Park: A Leafy Green Hidden Gem in Sathorn

Bangkok is sometimes nicknamed the Venice of the East for its interconnecting canal system, originally built for travel and trade. Over the years, many of the waterways have been deposed by busy roads and forgotten, but one particular stretch in our neck of the woods is undergoing a makeover. As part of a city-wide regeneration project inspired by Seoul’s famous Cheonggyecheon Linear Park, Chong Nonsi Canal Park is an oasis amid the bustle of the city. A zigzagging elevated path leads you from Chong Nonsi Skybridge, which connects the BTS and BRT stations, down to wending walkways lining the canal, punctuated with waterfalls, art works, shady trees and water vapour pipes that lend a mystical ambience while cooling passersby. It’s open for strolling, biking, jogging or relaxing all day but we recommend heading over at dusk when soft uplighting makes the vegetation look like a magical jungle.

Find Sathorn’s Best French Food At Alpea

Chef Arnaud Dunand is creating something of a French enclave around the corner from us on Sathorn Soi 10. Right next to his fine-dining den, Maison Dunand, and atop his produce shop sits brand new bistrot, Alpea. Snuggle up in the sunny, cosy dining room and tuck into indulgent comfort food from the French Alps. There’s beef tartar, sautéed escargots and Crêpes Suzette served up tableside, and of course everything pairs perfectly with a selection of great French wines. It’s perfect for when you want a proper taste of Europe but can’t be bothered with the fanciness of Maison Dunand. Also, you can grab some yummy cheeses, sausages or onion soup to take home from the grocery store downstairs.

Cantonese BBQ at Apollo Duck in Sathorn

Craving legit roast duck? You’re in luck – Cantonese BBQ experts just moved into the neighbourhood. Apollo Duck serves up wonton noodles, chicken, char siu pork and even goose, but obviously, the star is obviously the duck. It comes in portions sized small, medium or large (the whole bird), roasted to perfection with crispy skin and moreish gravy. From ASAI, just hop over Sathorn via the Saint Louis BTS station, pop down Sathorn Soi 11 and Apollo duck is on your right.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and uncover Sathorn’s newest treasures! And if you’re staying at ASAI Bangkok Sathorn, be sure to chat with our team. We’re always tapped into the best things to see, eat, drink and do in the neighbourhood.
